ABOUT US
The Central Alberta Crime Prevention Centre (CACPC) serves as a hub for crime prevention. March 2024 marks the completion of 12 years of operations. A volunteer Board of community members in Central Alberta guides the CACPC. The Executive Director manages the day-to-day operations and oversees the implementation of the Strategic Plan through annual planning of programs and services.
A unique crime prevention hub model brings together multiple crime prevention programs to work and network together for community safety. Each partner organization pays an annual user fee that gives their program a home, access to shared resources, and is based on how they use the Centre. Partnering with local law enforcement, staff & volunteers work to address community issues by implementing programs & services for those interested in being pro-active in crime prevention. Priorities include education opportunities, and crime reduction initiatives to assist victims who have been impacted by crime, such as break & enters, graffiti, vandalism, theft from and of vehicles, and other property crimes, as well as those who are targets of fraud/scams. As a non-profit, the CACPC has a diverse funding model with fees for specialized services such as CPTED training courses, CPTED Assessments, plus grants, sponsorship, donations, three community fundraising events, and the sale of crime prevention merchandise such as graffiti removal products, personal alarms, bike shields and microdot property kits. |
